Wieden + Kennedy New York Bids Adieu to Buz Sawyer

By Matt Van Hoven

Last night at a party held at New York’s lavish locale, The Box, the crew celebrated their annual Founder’s Day party and said goodbye to departing managing directer Buz Sawyer. Sawyer, who joined the shop in 2001, was the subject of a roast. And although we weren’t privy to the jokes we were able to find some photos.

Earlier this month we reported Sawyer’s plans to depart.

It’s rumored that NY co-ECD Todd Waterbury also left the agency. One source indicated he “walked off the job” but that seems a bit severe. We’re told he was at the event last night. But sources verify he has left the shop. We did learn of this yesterday, April 1, so if it’s a big joke, color me red. The agency didn’t immediately respond to a request for information.
