West Gets a New Chief Creative Officer

We still can’t quite figure out exactly what goes on at West, the San Francisco agency co-founded by Allison Johnson of Apple and Twitter’s Jack Dorsey. We do, however, know that certain readers have developed an unhealthy obsession.

West focuses on tech clients like Jawbone, but it’s not particularly forthcoming about the campaigns it creates for such companies–and its homepage, once critiqued by TechCrunch and ourselves, no longer includes any contact information. It does feature a link to the company’s LinkedIn profile, which includes a list of approximately 45 staffers including newly-appointed CCO Jordan Crane.

Crane last appeared on this blog (via Stuart Elliott of The New York Times) discussing AOL’s 2009 brand identity, which launched after it parted ways with Time Warner; he joined the San Francisco shop last month as its top creative.

Steven Goldblatt, the GS&P/DDB veteran who joined the agency in late 2014 after leaving Mullen, is still listed as West’s ECD. Other creative directors include Martin Agency/W+K veteran Jeremy Lind (who worked on Walmart’s yodeling cat) and Nei Caetano, who directed quite a few video game campaigns and worked in art and design with major names including JWT, Ogilvy, AtmosphereBBDO, Leo Burnett and R/GA.

Prior to joining West last month, Crane spent several years with Wolff Olins as a design and creative director in both New York and San Francisco.

We have never received anything from West despite multiple attempts to contact the agency. Perhaps–as is the case with Huge’s SF Apple shop Elephant–you just have to know someone.
