We Hear: WaMu’s Interactive/Marketing Agency to Shutter

By Matt Van Hoven

Following the takeover by JP Morgan Chase, WaMu has been undergoing infrastructural changes. AgencySpy is told that the bank’s marketing and interactive agency, Boston based Kessler Group, will close its San Francisco shop on Dec. 31 of this year, as JMC consolidates those efforts to its in-house operations.

A source cited JP Morgan Chase’s decision to bring all marketing and interactive work in-house as “the final nail in Kessler’s coffin.” In all, more than 40 staffers will be without work, we’re told.

More recently, JP Morgan chase laid off 93 percent of its PR communications staff, according to PRWeek. WaMu’s new owner will also remodel a number of the bank’s branches to reflect Chase’s existing design. Basically, all that remains of WaMu is being white-washed by JP Morgan Chase.
