We Hear: 2 Top Creatives Leave Portland’s BPN

By Patrick Coffee

bpn-logo-gif1Back in July, we noted a big hire for BPN or Borders, Perrin Norander, the Portland indie agency that specializes in “[helping] brands punch way above their weight.”

When ECD Mark Waggoner hand-picked veteran art director Bill Karow to serve as the shop’s newest CD, the move marked something of a reunion: both worked together at Cole & Weber and Wieden + Kennedy Portland in the late ’90s/early ’00s.

The pairing was short-lived, however. We hear that both CDs are no longer with BPN, and sources tell us that they left earlier this month.

Karow joined the shop after directing art on a May campaign for The Oregon Lottery, and that move followed an extended period in which he freelanced on campaigns for such clients as Apple, Volkswagen, Nike, Adidas and Miller. Waggoner himself was CCO and ECD for Blast Radius West before joining the BPN team in 2014, and he previously held top creative positions at Razorfish and Publicis West in addition to his two stints with Wieden.

A spokesperson for BPN had no comment today regarding either the departures of these two creative leaders or the agency’s plans to replace them.

More information as it comes in.
