We Hear: Jay Farrell Also Resigned from G2

By Kiran Aditham

Here we go again. Sources familiar with the matter are telling us that Jay Farrell also tendered his resignation from G2 last Friday. Farrell was hired by G2 in early 2009 as president of the agency’s Promotional Marketing department. According to our source, Farrell is leaving “due to frustration with the organization and its politics, as well as its failure to gain any traction in the industry following the reorganization.”

Farrell, a Chicago native, joined G2 from OgilvyAction, where he was vice chairman for North America and previously held the CEO post. Prior to that, he held senior management positions at Communicator Worldwide (formerly Davidson Marketing, a firm Farrell co-owned and led for 18 years) and Arc Worldwide, and also served on the client side at P&G and Alberto Culver. We’re double-checking with G2 on Farrell’s departure, but from what we’re hearing, the news is accurate.

Update: G2 confirms Farrell’s resignation, saying he was “instrumental in re-energizing the Chicago office, and we’ll miss him and wish him the best.” G2 adds that he’ll staying on for another month or so to help in the transition.
