WCRS Stages ‘The Giant Crumpet Show’ for Warburtons

WCRS teamed up with Another Film Company and director Declan Lowney to bring to life “The Giant Crumpet Show” for Warburtons, a holiday ad starring the cast of The Muppets.

The ad opens with Kermit pitching his “fantastic idea for a Muppet extravaganza” promoting the brand’s giant crumpets to Mr. Warburton himself. Soon the entire cast of The Muppets is singing an altered version of the classic theme song to The Muppet Show, transforming it into “The Giant Crumpet Show.” Pacing is handled well, with individual characters given brief moments within the longer routine, such as Fozzie telling a typically awful joke, Bunsen presenting a less than stellar invention, Animal yelling and Ms. Piggie attempting to seduce Mr. Warburton in his dressing room. Fans of the show, both the classic The Muppet Show and revival series The Muppets, will love it but it has an undeniable charm to the casual viewer as well, making it easily one of the most likable ads of the season. In a cheeky touch, the spot ends with Statler and Waldorf referencing last year’s holiday ad for the brand, saying, “I preferred the other one” and “Where is Stallone anyway?” while laughing it up.
