We’ve never known what to make of Warren Zevon classic “Werewolves of London,” though a quick Google search tells us that Phil Everly came up with the idea and Zevon just improvised.
Those werewolves have gone over to the sexy side in a new campaign created by Maine-based VIA Agency to promote the very British Three Olives Vodka. Here’s the first spot, titled “Full Moon”:
This hirsute fellow is almost aggressive enough for us to call him “Bond-like.”
In the second spot, things get a little more real for a soon-to-be-unlucky brunette:
The third spot in the series reminds us that Mr. Wolf isn’t invincible — he’s just very close to it:
The narrative becomes a bit clearer in the campaign’s official video for pop singer Masha’s cover of the aforementioned Zevon tune. Note the product placement and the sick mutton chops:
The lesson, then, is that werewolves are perfectly harmless as long as one keeps them mildly soused.
VIA CCO Greg Smith says, “‘Werewolves of London’ takes the typical Three Olives Vodka drinker to the extreme, creating a protagonist whose polished exterior belies the beast within.”
The campaign was directed by Anthony Mandler, who most recently handled some Cadillacs for Spike DDB. It will begin airing widely next week.
