VB&P, adidas Golf Are ‘Geared for More’ Ahead of the Masters

Venables Bell & Partners launched a new campaign for adidas Golf starring PGA pros Jason Day, Sergio Garcia and Dustin Johnson entitled “Geared for More.”

Arriving ahead of the beginning of the Masters tomorrow, the three 30-second spots each focus on one of the pro golfers as they prepare to compete for a green jacket. In Day’s spot, he speaks via voiceover about how “Some might put their feet up…relax” after winning a major, but that wasn’t his only goal. Rather, he’s setting out “to win everything.” Garcia’s spot, by contrast, sees the golfer training hard in the gym, welcoming the naysayers who think his best days are behind him, since it makes it that much easier for him to push himself. While the motivational voiceovers are pretty much par for the category, the visuals may be a little too static for their own good (even for a golf brand). Day’s spot is literally 30-seconds of the golfer sitting on a bench while a camera slowly zooms in. Johnson’s spot spends most of its 30-seconds focusing on him slowly walking through a tunnel, with just a few seconds of his swing at the end, making Garcia lifting weights in the gym seem action-filled by comparison.
