By Kyle O'Brien

Tools of the Trade is an AgencySpy feature to help highlight the many tools that help make advertising and marketing folks successful. The tools can be anything that helps you perform at your top form, from your favorite drafting table to your best software program to a lucky pen, a vintage typewriter or a pair of headphones.

Next up is Geoff Renaud, co-founder and CMO of Web3 marketing agency Invisible North, living and working in Paris.

What is the one tool you use all the time at work, and how does it inspire your work?

My NFT collection. It’s an all-access pass to some of the most valuable connections and new business leads for our company.

Why is it your favorite?

I lead new client growth at Invisible North and we work with Web3 clients, so joining NFT communities is crucial to insider access and credibility.

It’s also a lot of fun being part of these communities, in addition to being great for business.

Just last night in Paris, I went to a Moonbirds (an NFT community) meetup and met the artist Beeple—and a VC who has a portfolio company that’s been wanting to work with us among other valuable contacts.

How did you acquire your tool or hear about it for the first time?

I collected sports cards when I was a kid. I was totally obsessed and even had a “store” in my basement where everyone from the neighborhood would come to buy and sell.

The first day I bought a digital pack on NBA Top Shot, the whole digital collectible thing made instant sense to me.

It’s an evolution from what I grew up with—and I knew instantly that this was the next chapter of collectibles and online communities.

How does it help you be successful?

It’s really opened up a global network for me as the Web3 community is all over the world. We’re working in six continents right now and my calendar is packed with visits to new clients from all over the globe.

Does it have sentimental value?

I’m really a believer in where this space will go and in it for the long-term. I’m totally committed, so yes.

Do you think your tool could go TikTok viral?

Probably not in the way I would want it to with the current sentiment on NFTs, but I’m a believer in token-gated communities and collectible digital assets and playing a long game in the space.
