Todd Waterbury Will in Fact Leave W+K

By Kiran Aditham

It looks like our sources were right and it was no April Fool’s joke after all as Wieden + Kennedy New York co-executive creative director Todd Waterbury is resigning from the agency effective May 1.

According to the release, Waterbury is relinquishing his co-ECD post after nine years to start an “as-yet-unnamed creative/strategic consultancy.” In a statement, Waterbury says, “After sixteen years at W+K and a lifetime of creative accomplishments that I cannot begin to list, now is the time to find unexpected ways to realize the business and creative potential that exists at the intersection of design, media and technology.” Before he officially splits, Waterbury will work with founder/CEO Dan Wieden and the agency’s global ECD John Jay in naming a successor. His W+K NY partner-in-crime Kevin Proudfoot meanwhile will remain on as co-ECD.
