Last night during President Obama’s speech, South Carolina Representative Joe Wilson shouted, “You lie” and then Twitter friggin exploded. Wilson, who was previously unknown, later apologized saying “I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the president’s remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health-care bill.” Wilson said in a statement. “While I disagree with the president’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable.” But hey, now he’s Twitter famous.
And then there’s iJustine, aka Justine Ezarik, who will be MTV’s Twitter correspondent during the VMAs. Hmm, wonder if they’ll look back at this in 10 years and realize it was one of those of-the-moment trends they should have let pass by? No matter, tweet @iJustine during the VMAs and your comments might make it on the air. This is during the opening red carpet portion of the show, of course.
