Today on the Menu: Condé’s Bad Week, Times’ Good Quarter, CNN’s New Site

This has not been a good week for two major content publishers. Both Condé Nast and the New York Times felt the pains of reduced advertising revenues &#151 the former laid off 180 employees from a number of titles over the last few weeks. The Times’ Q3 earnings report came out yesterday, and the advertising outlook wasn’t great there, either.

It all speaks to a bigger conversation about how consumers absorb content. CNN, for one, has made deals with other Time Warner entities like Sports Illustrated and Entertainment Weekly to beef up what you can read on CNN.com.
