Thomas Shim Joins Y&R New York as Creative Director on the Dell Account

Y&R New York appointed Thomas Shim as creative director on the agency’s Dell account, effective as of November 16. Shim will work closely with Christian Carl, global executive creative director on the account, to manage day-to-day business, with both Shim and Carl reporting to chief creative officer Leslie Sims.

Shim joins Y&R from Spike DDB, where he served as associate creative director on the agency’s Cadillac and Chevrolet accounts. Prior to that, he served as an integrated creative with Havas Worldwide, working with brands including Dos Equis, Heineken, Ritz and Durex. He has also freelanced with agencies including BBDO, R/GA,S aatchi and Saatchi and MRM McCann, as well as with Heineken and Comedy Central. This past January he began teaching as an adjunct professor at the School of Visual Arts in New York. 

“Thomas is one of the most talented people I have ever had the pleasure to work with,” said Carl. “He will make an immediate impact — not only on the work, but as a mentor and leader on the team. We have worked really well together in the past and I’m excited to have that opportunity again.”
