The Variable Wins Advance America AOR Business Away From Zimmerman

Winston-Salem, N.C.’s The Variable, which we haven’t mentioned on this site for a while, picked up a new piece of business by winning the competitive review for Advance America, a provider of “small-dollar consumer loans” and related services.

Moving forward, the indie shop will handle various services for its newest client including strategy, design, production, media planning and buying, digital and social media, and creative.

The South Carolina-based chain currently operates 1,900 locations in addition to an online presence. More than three years ago, the client picked Florida fave Zimmerman as its AOR, and the Omnicom agency confirmed that it did not participate in the recent pitch.

A client spokesperson said, “The Variable was selected following an informal review and Advance America would prefer not to disclose which agencies were considered as part of the process.”

“When looking for the right partner, our top priority was to find an agency that put results above all else—one that had a proven record of creating true value to the brands they work with,” noted Advance vp of marketing Laura McCutcheon, adding that The Variable has “already hit the ground running, helping us think differently about how we strategically position ourselves to provide more people with solutions to help their financial needs.”

Regarding his agency’s newest client, The Variable partner and president David Mullen said, “They are building on that heritage with a really exciting vision for the future of their brand, and we are thrilled to help them as they work to share nation-wide.”

We do not currently have spending estimates for the client. Here is a recent unattributed spot.
