The First Crowdsourced Instagram Music Video is in Production

By Bob Marshall

London indie rockers The Vaccines are asking for the help of their fans to create their new music video. The digital weapon of choice? Instagram: the social app that makes regular mobile photos look vintage and artistic with little effort on the part of the amateur photographer.

The video for the lastest Vaccine’s single “Wetsuit” will be entirely made up of an ever-growing online Instagram gallery, Fans have been asked to snap Instagram-ed photos at the Vaccines’ shows this summer, tagging with the #vaccinesvideo hashtag to denote that the photo is meant for the forthcoming music video. While the Vaccines may be the first to make a music video using Instagram images, they certainly aren’t the band first to use animated amateur photography or crowdsourcing to create a fan-driven film experience.
