Publicis Groupe cross-cultural agency The Community is expanding operations to the west coast with the opening of a new office in San Francisco.

“A west coast operation has always been part of our vision. It’s such a great market and I’m excited about all the great work we’ll be able to do from there,” The Community co-founder and chief creative officer José Mollá said in a statement.

“I couldn’t be more pleased about opening our doors in SF, a city which sets the standard for innovation,” added The Community president Luis Montero. “This new location will help us deepen the value we provide to our Bay Area clients, as well as open up new opportunities on the west coast.”

The new office will be led by managing director Julie Liss and chief creative officer Mark Sweeney. Liss and Sweeney arrive at The Community from Publicis San Francisco agency Riney, where she served as managing director and chief strategy officer and he served as chief creative officer.

“I look forward to being part of the community’s family and leading their west coast offering,” Liss said in a statement. “We’ve already had one new business pitch and win as a collective community team and we are looking forward to building on this momentum.”

The expansion follows The Community recently opening offices in New York and London earlier this year. According to a press release, the agency has seen four years of consecutive growth over 20 percent. The Community did face a setback last month with its decision to sit out a BMW multicultural advertising review after serving as the brand’s multicultural agency of record since 2015. At the beginning of the year, Domino’s appointed The Community as its U.S. Hispanic agency of record, following a review.
