By Kyle O'Brien

Independent agency Mower has named Stephanie Crockett the agency’s next president and chief operating officer, taking the president title from Eric Mower, who will remain chairman and chief executive officer of the agency he has led since 1968.

Crockett joined Mower 17 years ago and was most recently executive vice president, managing director, serving as part of the senior leadership team, the Syracuse market leader, manager of the client services team and head of the agency’s energy and sustainability practice.

“This new leadership appointment represents a vital step forward for our company,” Eric Mower told Adweek. “Now more than ever before, the industry is rapidly changing, and new leaders with ambition and creativity are required for agencies to thrive. Stephanie is the best person to spearhead the next phase for our company. She has the trust from every key stakeholder at Mower—including our clients, staff, executive leaders and within her local community. Stephanie has always been, and will continue to be, a powerful asset to Mower and its future.”

Crockett told Adweek: “Eric Mower created something truly unique when he built a multi-city, integrated communications agency that has attracted clients and employees seeking variety and innovation. With the Mower executive leadership team, our challenge will be to continue to build upon this success and expand Mower’s reach and reputation as a leading industry agency. At a time when client-agency relationships and employee dynamics have changed, I am confident that Mower will succeed in this new environment because of our ability to evolve and build upon on a solid foundation of core values.”

The rest of the agency’s executive leadership team will remain in place, including Doug Bean, vice chairman; Chris Steenstra, chief administrative officer; Cheryl Duggan, chief financial officer; Doug Kamp, chief creative officer; and Rick Lyke, executive vice president, managing director, public relations and public affairs.

Mower has nine offices across the U.S., including New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago and Syracuse, with clients including recent business wins LG Solar, 84.51°, ABB Adaptive and Avangrid.
