Canadian smart home company ecobee has selected MullenLowe’s Mediahub as its media agency of record, following a review.

Initiative was incumbent on the account and defended in the review, according to sources familiar with the review, which also cited independent media agency Noble People as amongst the agencies participating in the review process.

“Mediahub stood out from all the other media shops we met,” ecobee CMO Jackie Poriadjian said in a statement. “We were looking for a media shop that could demonstrate agility, an entrepreneurial spirit and had a track record of turning paid impressions into earned impressions. We are looking forward to partnering with Mediahub in our goal to make ecobee a household name in growing and exciting category.”

“ecobee is the perfect kind of brand for our agency – a challenger looking to innovate, disrupt the marketplace and create solutions that improve consumers lives,” Mediahub New York executive director Laura Kavanagh added. “Mediahub has a strong track record working with category disrupting brands like ecobee. We’re excited to partner with them in this next phase of their brand evolution.”

Effective immediately, Mediahub will be responsible for media buying and planning, handling the account out of its New York office. Mediahub will be tasked with helping ecobee elevate brand awareness and expand marketshare as the brand prepares to expand its services to customers across North America.

According to global independent research firm COMvergence, ecobee spent around $5 million on measured marketing in the U.S. in 2018.
