Skittles Returning to the Super Bowl with adam&eveDDB Spot

By Erik Oster

Wrigley’s Skittles brand will be returning to the Super Bowl for the third consecutive year, but its Super Bowl LI entry will mark a change of pace.

The latest big game entry will be handled by adam&eveDDB, rather than DDB Chicago. DDB Chicago crafted both the brand’s big game debut in 2015 and last year’s “The Portrait” spot starring Steven Tyler.

The brand and agency have yet to release any information regarding what to expect from this year’s effort, but we imagine there will be a teaser some time in the near future.

Earlier this month, adam&eveDDB announced a revamped senior management team in the wake of winning Samsung and subsequently opening a New York office to service the new client. (Allegedly.) The agency is no stranger to the U.K.’s version of the big game ad, as it is well-known for crafting big budget holiday spectacles for retailer John Lewis, such as this year’s viral “Buster the Boxer” spot. It also teamed up with director Wes Anderson on “Come Together” for H&M. This past June, adam&eveDDB worked with Skittles on a monochromatic celebration of Pride in London.

Skittles is also teaming up with Snickers for a “Candy Bowl” in-store promotion in the lead-up to the big game.
