SF Prodco Promotes Wyclef’s Presidential Campaign

By Michael Musco

Is Wyclef Jean really serious about running for Haitian president? Most political neophytes start with smaller ambitions, or more impressive qualifications. You don’t learn how to ride a bike right away. You start with training wheels. The Fugees co-founder wants to run a country that’s still reeling from an earthquake which killed more than 200,000 people earlier this year, and manage its multi-billion-dollar recovery effort when he has never before held elected office. Yikes.

Haitians must really hope Jean will do a better job managing their taxes than he has his own. I’m not going to get deep into it but according to the CBS-owned Florida television station WFOR, Wyclef Jean and his wife, Marie Claudinette, owe more than $5 million in federal and state tax liens dating back to 2004 on property they own.

It’s nice to have pride and good ambitions towards your homeland, but diving in wanting to be Don Corleone is a bit much. Baby steps. Anyhow, the clip above is part of a series from SF prodco Rehab dubbed “If I Were President.”
