Saatchi & Saatchi Hires Jay-Z, McCann Vet as First Global CMO

By Patrick Coffee

The worldwide Saatchi & Saatchi network made a couple of executive appointments yesterday, chief among them its first global CMO Jeff Geisler.

The most interesting thing about Geisler may be his previous role: top marketer at Roc Nation, the “full service entertainment company” founded by one Jay-Z back in 2008.

The release tells us that he worked with Rihanna, but that’s almost certainly not the reason Saatchi hired him: before joining the Nation, he spent more than 7 years at McCann, rising to the EVP, global brand director and head of leadership role. He also worked in accounts at BBH, Cliff Freeman and what was once Lowe & Partners.

Saatchi’s other big announcement is the promotion of Carol Miller-Repetto to the role of COO on the Procter & Gamble business. Miller-Repetto has been with the agency since 1998, and her previous role as Brand Agency Leader/EVP Global Equity Director had her handling its work on the Fixodent and Head & Shoulders brands.

The primary significance of the announcement is that Saatchi now has its “Global Leadership Team” (their caps, not ours) in place, with Geisler and Miller-Repetto working alongside worldwide CEO Robert Senior and CD Pablo Del Campo. It also follows the appointment of CSO David Hackworthy and the promotions of Jessica Hendrix to president of Saatchi & Saatchi X and Julie Michael to president of Team One.

This has been your press release rewrite of the day.
