S4 Capital Acquires Low Earth Orbit

Martin Sorrel‘s “little peanut,” S4 Capital, appears to be growing up at around the same rate as VaynerMedia’s confounding Planter’s creation. The company has made yet another acquisition now that it’s mature enough to concern itself with things like reputation.

S4 Capital expanded its services with the acquisition of communications agency Low Earth Orbit, which will become part of digital experience agency MediaMonks.

Low Earth Orbit was founded by Jess Clifton in 2019, with Kevin King subsequently joining as a global advisor, following their departures from executive roles at Edelman. Launched with the aim of connecting brands and consumers through creative experiences, Low Earth Orbit has worked with brands including Dole, Facebook, LA28 and Sierra Nevada.

Clifton and King will take on senior leadership roles at MediaMonks, with Clifton serving as head of brand and marketing advisory and King as global head of brand reputation.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jess and Kevin to the MediaMonks/S4 family. Every brand needs to promote their brand and products, but they also need to protect themselves when faced with reputational challenges. Similarly, every brand is asking for strategic support that is more agile and comprehensive to deliver maximum value,” MediaMonks founder and S4 Capital executive director Wesley ter Haar said in a statement. “Building out a PR 2.0 and Advisory practice will be a significant competitive advantage as we marry it with the S4 holy trinity of data, content and media.”

Clifton and King will begin in their new roles immediately.

“Brands are in a constant state of navigating disruption to their business,” Clifton said in a statement. “We are excited to bring advisory and reputation together with MediaMonks incredible creative, strategy and media capabilities.”
