RTO+P Appoints First West Coast CD

Philly-based independent creative agency, Red Tettemer O’Connell + Partners today announced the appointment of Ryan Scott as its first west coast vice president and group creative director. In the newly crated position, Scott will report directly to partners Steve Red (President and CCO) and Steve O’Connell (ECD).

Scott arrives at RTO+P with over ten years of experience, joining the agency from Deutsch LA, where he was associate creative director before being promoted to creative director. He has worked with brands including Volkswagen, Snapple, Dr Pepper and Dr Pepper TEN, including award-winning work on Volkswagen’s “Rocketman,” and “Feeling Carefree.” Prior to Deutsch, Scott worked as a senior copywriter for Wongdoody LA and at DDB, Los Angeles as a copywriter.

To welcome Scott aboard, RTO+P’s “maker” Steve Thompson created a large portrait of him out of beach brush. He then used an aerial drone to capture video and images of the portrait (video above).

“Ryan has done awesome work on iconic brands and we’re stoked to have him join us and help us continue building out our West Coast office,” said Steve Red. “We were also excited to see his head sculpted really large on a beach.”

Scott said of his new role:

“I knew RTO+P was the perfect fit because I’ve never met people who seemed to be having more fun at this game of advertising. Here is this scrappy, hyper-energized family of ridiculously talented people who are working harder and more passionately than any agency I have seen, and they are all legitimately having a blast doing it. I had to be a part of it, and being a Philadelphian at heart didn’t hurt either.”
