R/GA Portland Names New MD, Launches Banana Republic Campaign Starring Questlove and Lindsey Vonn

By Patrick Coffee

You know that there are more agencies in Portland than the one that starts with a W, right?

R/GA, the “company that creates transformation at speed,” has further solidified its presence in that pleasant town by naming Tara Moss as managing director.

At the same time, the office released a new campaign for client Banana Republic to promote its Kevin Love line. Who is Kevin Love? We’re not sure, but he knows Questlove and a couple more folks we’ve heard of.

Kinda minty.

This dude doesn’t just help record top jams, he also hangs out with Olympic gold medal athletes and apparently beats them at their own game.

And he knows his way around a fancy grilled cheese too.
R/GA Portland CD Zack McDonald partnered with the client’s own creative lead Len Peltier to develop “hyperbolic scenarios that uncover the complex mosaic of Love’s lesser-known skills.”

Oh, we get it: he’s a basketball player!

On the previous note, Moss arrives at R/GA after serving as Head of Business Transformation and Global Consulting at Dentsu Aegis Network, EVP and MD at Isobar, and head of digital marketing for the global adidas brand, where she spent almost 7 years.

“[Moss’s] reputation and experience building and leading high performance teams make her the ideal fit to lead our Portland office,” said U.S. president Sean Lyons, citing her experience with “digital transformation initiatives” and “direct-to-consumer programs.”

The incoming MD said she has “a deep respect for R/GA Portland’s multi-disciplinary creative output,” adding, “I look forward to pulling from my experience navigating new-media platforms and unexplored frontiers to pursue work that moves and challenges our team.”

So more of this Kevin Love fellow, stat!
