Red Lion Canada Hypes the Canadian Film Fest

By Erik Oster

Toronto-based agency Red Lion Canada launched a new spot promoting the Canadian Film Fest, which runs March 30-April 2.

The spot, entitled “Tuesday,” shows a day in the life of a man with an average office job. Only, there’s a whole group of characters, including a robber in a ski mask, a zombie girl and soldier following him around as he goes through his routine, from riding the elevator up in the morning to using the copier to breaking for lunch. An amorous couple even make out on a desk during a meeting and a couple of characters appear to follow him into the bathroom. While the ragtag gang are pretty clearly movie characters, the spot drives home the larger point by ending with the message, “Great films stick with you.” The spot will run as a 60-second cinema ad and 30-second broadcast spot, promoting the non-profit Canadian Film Fest, which opens March 30 and runs through April 2.

“It was a fun process using some of the best talent the country has to offer in the commercial business…for film, said Red Lion Canada president and CCO Matt Litzinger. “Working on a brand that celebrates Canadian film talent is an incredibly inspiring experience. The fact that the Canadian Film Fest has acted as a beacon for Canadian filmmaking for ten years and grown from an upstart festival to a launching pad for film careers felt like a perfect fit for Red Lion.”
