Red Door Interactive Promotes 3 Executives Including CMO Erika Werner

By Lindsay Rittenhouse

San Diego’s full-service agency Red Door Interactive announced the promotion of three staffers to the C-suite.

In case you don’t remember Red Door, here’s a reminder from way back in 2012.

Anyway, Erika Werner was elevated to chief marketing officer from vice president of client services. Dennis Gonzales, previously vice president of operations, assumed the role of chief operating officer. And John Faris, formerly vice president of cross-channel marketing, was appointed president to lead strategic planning, marketing technology and creative while continuing to oversee teams across SEO, paid and earned media and social media.

All of these positions are new to the agency.

“This is an exciting time both for Red Door and our clients,” CEO and co-founder Reid Carr said in a statement. “Last year was a big year, built on our previous 15 [years], so with this move, we’re re-aligning ourselves to plan for the next level, grow in tandem with our clients and consistently provide them with the best full-service, integrated solutions that are needed for marketing today.”

Red Door said it is in the midst of aligning its services and positioning the agency “to respond to  further business and client growth.” The promotions allow Red Door to drive cross-channel marketing through “collaboration, productization and innovation across delivery teams,” according to the agency.

Taking a slight jab at WPP, Publicis, IPG, Omnicom and Dentsu, Red Door added it “continues to make deliberate decisions that promote healthy, strategic growth to remain independent from holding companies and therefore better serve clients’ evolving needs.”

“I’m so proud of the progress we’ve made as a team over the 15 years that I have been at Red Door,” Werner said in a statement. “I’m so excited about this team and our energy. The fact that we promoted John, Dennis and me from within—John and Dennis each with over a decade at the company—speaks volumes when it comes to our collective growth, mutual respect and long-standing client relationships.”
