Publicis Canada has appointed former FCB Brazil CCO Joanna Monteiro chief creative officer at Publicis Toronto. Monteiro will report to Brett McIntosh, president of Publicis Toronto, and will join the agency’s executive leadership team.

Monteiro will help strengthen Publicis Groupe’s focus on creativity as it merges with data and technology.

“We felt it was important to add a creative visionary like Joanna to our team. Her impressive work speaks for itself and her ability to deliver powerful storytelling across borders will perfectly complement our existing team and capabilities,” said McIntosh in a statement. “More importantly, she is a wonderful person who will fit well with the open and engaged culture of our people and our clients.”

Monteiro is the recipient of 41 Cannes Lions, including a Grand Prix in mobile, and has received more than 200 awards and served as a jury president or juror for many of the top festivals, including Cannes, D&AD, One Show and Clios. She has been named Business Insider’s “most creative woman in advertising” and is among its “30 most creative people in advertising.”

“I’ve been energized by the ambition and relentless transformation of the Groupe. Publicis has the right plan, right model and the right people to solve for the big challenges clients are facing,” said Monteiro in a statement. “I’m very excited to be part of this journey—it is a once in a lifetime opportunity to work with brands that I’ve admired my whole life.”
