The Weatherproof Garment Company placed an ad in Times Square this month which contains an image of President Obama standing on the Great Wall of China, wearing one of their jackets. The image, licensed by the Associated Press, is expected to be removed once the White House contacts the garment company, since the President did not approve the endorsement.
The company had been calling the coat “the Obama jacket” on their Web site, where the ad had also been displayed. It appears to have been removed.
This is the second time in a week one of the First Couple’s images has been used without their permission to further a company’s cause. Yesterday we told you about a Peta ad in which First Lady Michelle Obama’s image was misused.
