PETA Unveils ‘Veggie Love’ Casting Call Clip (NSFW)

By Michael Musco

Though its “Veggie Love” Super Bowl ad was snubbed by NBC two years ago (here‘s the Peacock Network’s list of concerns), PETA continues to keep the spirit of its $3 million entry alive as the loved/hated animal rights org has now released “Veggie Love Casting Session,” which is exactly what you’d expect it to be. PETA’s objective with the ad was to balance to the “traditional onslaught of Super Bowl commercials for meaty, greasy, and factory-farmed fast food” and point out that vegetarians really do have better sex–well, at least according to them. But PETA should know that in the post Nipple-gate era, you really can’t get away with too much, no matter how much you’re willing to pay.

A PETA spokesperson sent us a statement defending the original ad, saying, “We’re using a fun and sexy way to get a very serious point across: Going vegan is best thing you can do for animals, the planet, your health, and your sex life. Sexy videos appeal to almost everyone, but people aren’t just visiting PETA.org to look at beautiful women.  They stay to see our more serious videos about meat industry cruelties, including chickens having their throats slit while fully conscious and mother pigs being confined to crates so small they can’t even turn around.”
