Periscope, Great Clips Ask ‘What Would Kids Do With #MoreMinutes?’

By Erik Oster

Minneapolis agency Periscope recently launched an integrated back-to-school campaign for Great Clips asking “What would kids do with #MoreMinutes?”

Intended to highlight the time-saving aspect of the Great Clips Online Check-In app, new spots imagine what kids would do with more free time. In the above 30-second spot, answers range from a space travel to a record-breaking treehouse to an 11,000 monkey zoo and a taco dinosaur (not to be confused with a dinosaur taco). The kids’ charming answers to the question seem spontaneous and off-the-cuff, with one boy ending his interview by saying, “I will keep on brainstorming ideas, but that’s all I’ve got for now.” Supporting 15-second spots highlight each kids’ individual responses, including one youngster who seems really hungry for tacos. The broadcast spots are supported by digital and print initiatives, as well as a social campaign asking people to submit selfies of their Great Clips haircuts, along with how they’ll spend their extra time with the hashtag #MoreMinutes to social media. The brand is responding by awarding “random acts of kindness” to users of selected posts. So far these have included included a donation to Wild Hearts Rescue Ranch, a donation of equipment to Barefoot Republic Camp and supporting a family with mounting medical bills, but the brand has pledged there’s plenty more to come before the end of the campaign on September 11, by which time school will be back in session.
