By SuperSpy

Paul Tilley was being honored by his friends, family and the media the other day. In a chapel in Chicago, filled to its 700-seat capacity, he was remembered as “a creative and funny man with a deeply sensitive side.”

AdAge reported that among attendees were Chairman Emeritus Keith Reinhard; CEO Chuck Brymer; Chairman-Chief Creative Officer Bob Scarpelli and President-CEO of DDB Chicago Rick Carpenter. College friend David Warner said:

“I’ve never known a man with a hunger for life that exceeded his. He counted on us to keep him grounded.”

Other statements of love and admiration come from the obituary in The Chicago Tribune:

“Life is complicated, and Paul was a complicated man,” said Mr. Tilley’s wife, Cristina.

“Paul was a mentor to many, a friend to all,” said Rick Carpenter. “His ability to lead, inspire, and yes, entertain will be so greatly missed.”

Paul is survived by two daughters, Caroline and Margaret; his mother, Diana Stallings Tilley; and his sister, Elizabeth Smith.
