Omnicom Combines Studio Production Departments to Form eg+ worldwide

By Erik Oster

Omnicom Group announced that it has combined the studio production departments for BBDO, TBWA and DDB into a single entity, called eg+ worldwide, in order to more effectively and efficiently serve a wide range of clients globally.

The New York offices of eg+ worldwide launched August 31, combining the production teams for the holding company’s three agencies under one roof: BBDO’s headquarters at 1285 Avenue of the Americas. Going forward, an Omnicom spokesperson told Adweek, eg+ worldwide will operate with a “a hub-and-spoke approach,” opening “satellite offices” at the holding company’s agencies when needed.

The creation of eg+ worldwide is the latest phase of a project launched with the merger of content marketing company E-Graphics with Hub Plus to form eg+ last year.

“We will work with the agencies to not produce commercials, per se, but to provide the distribution and applications of their messages both above and below the line,” eg+ CEO Paul Hosea explained to Adweek. “We work across media—digital, print, moving images and ATL work.” He added, “There will be some restructuring in terms of titles and responsibilities,” but “we don’t see any redundancies. So there will be no reduction in staffing at all.”

Omnicom agencies will reportedly retain their independence while making the “capabilities of eg+ available to each client.” The shops will also continue to work with third party production companies, although more related duties will be handled in-house going forward.
