Ogilvy New York Stages ‘Tug of War’ for Caterpillar

By Erik Oster

Ogilvy & Mather New York launched a new spot for Caterpillar entitled “Tug of War.”

For the spot, Ogilvy enlisted the services of Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, who portrays Gregor Clegane on Game of Thrones and was named Europe’s Strongest Man in 2014. Set in Iceland, the spot pits the strongman (billed as “Thor”) against a Caterpillar D10T in an epic tug of war. He fights off the machine to a grueling standstill and is joined by a group of onlookers. The driver of the Caterpillar finally relents, putting the machine in neutral and allowing the crowd to win. It’s the latest in Ogilvy & Mather New York’s “#BuiltForIt” campaign showcasing the capabilities of Caterpillar machines. This one will undoubtedly receive more attention than its predecessors, thanks Björnsson‘s appearance as we imagine that fans eagerly awaiting the HBO series will want to take a look at The Mountain taking on a Caterpillar.
