NYC Group Takes on “Wild Posting” Firm in Street Ad Takeover

By Kiran Aditham

Gothamist gives us the lowdown on yesterday’s street ad takeover in the Big Apple, whereby orange vested minions pounded the pavement in Manhattan and Brooklyn in an effort to whitewash “pervasive, illegal” ads that saturate the city.

The paint-wielding protesters are part of a network called the Public Art Campaign and their target is a “wild posting” firm called the NPA, which maintains the various billboards. The NPA took action within an hour of the PAC’s actions, though, according to the blog, and while it remains to be seen whether the purists made any impact whatsoever, five people were arrested according to the NY Times.
