No, VB&P Didn’t Lose Intel to DDB

By Kiran Aditham

Despite tipsters’ claims that “DDB just won Intel from Venables,” sources familiar with the matter reassure us that VB&P is still one of the brand’s lead agencies–and one of many considering that like other mega-corps, Intel uses multiple shops to service their needs from direct to PR to B2B (what’s been deemed an “open source” agency relationship). Besides, after creating something as nifty as “The Chase,” why would Intel drop the San Francisco op? Anyhow, it appears that DDB has nabbed an Intel assignment–though we’re still trying to specify exactly what that is–and since Tribal already does interactive work for the brand, it could just be a mutual project. We’re checking in with the DDB camp for more clarification on this.

Update (maybe): Since DDB is keeping schtum on the matter it seems, the tipster-tariat is telling us this: “fter a jump ball Tribal DDB won lead on Intel’s integrated brand work.  Yes, VBP is still on the roster.  And, no, this is not a DDB assignment.” We’re still trying to verify what the hell’s going on but we’ll keep you posted.
