Nike, Foot Locker and Kevin Durant Get a Little Too Excited

Are dunks reels even impressive anymore?

The newest ad for Foot Locker and Nike, created by Wieden+Kennedy Portland and launched today, posits that every crowd reacts to such dope moves in its own way.

The ad, which promotes both the Nike KD8 sneaker and Foot Locker’s back to school offering, is the latest collaboration between the two brands (the latter of which usually works with AOR BBDO).

You may, for example, remember the March 2014 spot comparing Kobe’s new shoes to a piano worthy of Lionel Richie. Last December’s Blake Griffin ad from W+K Amsterdam office also eschewed your standard dunk compilation to focus on Griffin’s ball handling skills while arguing that dunks are no longer news.

Most games, be they street or NBA, don’t have an audience quite like the one above. But we were more impressed by Durant’s Prince-purple pants.
