New York Presbyterian Infiltrates NFL Ad Rotation

By Kiran Aditham

We’re assuming this New York Presbyterian ad was shown just to the tri-state area market watching the game on CBS 2, but we’d be damned it if wasn’t one of the most brave and/or misguided placements we’ve seen as of late. Just before tipoff of  the AFC Championship game between the Jets and Steelers yesterday (grr…stupid Jets), audiences were privy to  “Heather’s Story” featuring NYP patient Heather McNamara, who offers first-person recollection of the astonishing surgery and the doctor who saved her life. It’s depressing-turned-awe-inspiring, but you have to wonder how this ad wedged its way in between the usual male-targeted lineup of beer, smartphone and car commercials that are in seemingly endless supply. Whatever the case, we’re betting this clip had at least one Jet or Steeler jersey-sporting fan welling up for a sec.
