Monday Stir

-TBWA\Spain throws a typical test drive on its ear. A special edition Ford Explorer in the country comes with a PlayStation 5. A three-minute ad subverts the format with various characters like zombies, a Kraken, an evil robot, a warrior and more.

“A limited-edition car that comes with a PS5 is not a normal car, so it didn’t deserve a normal presentation,” said Juan García Escudero, CCO in TBWA\Spain. “I think it’s going to be a good surprise for the audience of TV motor programs.”

-Canada’s (and Fast Company’s) Jeff Beer doesn’t sugarcoat it: Facebook is the worst brand of the year.

CMO revolving door prediction. Bozoma St. John will move again (but we don’t think so).

-Some pretty deft trolling from Budweiser. If you were a goalie that let in any of Lionel Messi‘s 644 goals for his club (Barcelona), you received a custom bottle with the numbered goal(s) you let in. The stunt commemorates Messi breaking Pele‘s long-standing record of the number of goals for a single club.

-Almost 70 years at one agency. Wunderman Thompson’s Ginny Barr retires at 93.

-Maybe file this one under “2020 bad ideas.” Tesla owners can now customize their horns. Choices include (pauses to shake head) applause, “tada,” “La Cucaracha” (good Lord), a goat or (pauses, sighs, hangs head) a fart. Tesla owners are now officially insufferable.

-And here’s what political advertising looks like in Georgia. Oy.
