Microsoft Hiring Despite 5,000 Job Cuts

By Matt Van Hoven

Microsoft is still hiring, even though yesterday 1,400 employees were laid off, and 3,600 more are set to be let go. Concerns about the future of business with agencies like Razorfish and even Crispin Porter + Bogusky trickled throughout the day yesterday, but a report from CNN Money/Fortune would seem to disavow such thinking.

The publication rated Microsoft as 38 on their list of top hiring companies.

“Microsoft announced Jan. 22 that it would be cutting up to 5,000 jobs in the next year and a half. But it’s still looking for software design engineers, financial analysts, human resources, administrative and marketing and sales talent, particularly in online ad sales.”

Our thought: why hire when you already have the staff in-house? If anything, based on this report the agencies already in bed with Microsoft might expect to be adding to their workforces.
