Mechanica Tells Comeback Story for Saucony

By Erik Oster

Creative agency Mechanica teamed up with production company Persuade & Influence and directors Justin Tyler Close and Jeremy Power Regimbal to tell the story of Eduardo Garcia for Saucony with “Runner. Gatherer. Chef.” the second in the agency’s “Seeker Story” series for the brand.

“Runner. Gatherer. Chef.” tells the story of Garcia’s year-long recovery from an accident which led to the loss of his arm due to electrocution. Rather than wallowing in negativity, Garcia views every day as an “opportunity to push a little harder.” The spot examines Garcia’s passion for running, cooking and foraging. “Running is part of my recipe, it’s part of my equation,” says Garcia. The spot, and series in general, is clearly focused on runners, but also seeks to target “knowledge seekers, artists, and creative thinkers of all stripes who encounter the films.” While a bit long at over four-minutes, the video is beautifully shot and tells a compelling story, with Garcia expressing views about running which undoubtedly fit well with those of the brand. It will be interesting to see where Mechanica takes the series next.
