McCann Worldgroup Addresses Growth With Two Global Leadership Positions

By Kyle O'Brien

McCann Worldgroup has made two global leadership appointments to address the network’s growth priorities. Marcy Q. Samet was elevated to chief growth and development officer of McCann Worldgroup, and Maggie O. Connors has joined MRM from Deutsch NY to serve as global chief growth officer.

For the last seven years, Samet served as global CMO for MRM, McCann Worldgroup’s digital, data technology and relationship marketing agency. Before that she was evp/managing director of MRM, where she helped build the agency’s global healthcare practice and added numerous clients to the roster, including Sanofi and BASF.

“Marcy played an essential role in pioneering MRM’s groundbreaking work in digital transformation, data and analytics, technology and innovation on behalf of our clients,” said Bill Kolb, chairman and CEO, McCann Worldgroup.

Samet’s new responsibilities will focus on leading new integrated and open architecture business development growth initiatives for both McCann Worldgroup and parent company IPG.

“Clients are looking for comprehensive, seamless solutions to complex business issues, so deep expertise from our agencies is precisely what they need. By bringing together our unmatched creative prowess with a shared mission, language, tools and culture, we are able to integrate best-in-class capabilities in a way that no other network can, ultimately driving business impact and helping brands earn a meaningful role in people’s lives,” Samet said in a statement.

Connors joins MRM after serving as evp, head of new business at Deutsch New York for the last five years, helping the agency grow through business wins with Reebok, DraftKings, Newman’s Own, ClearChoice, Hain Celestial and Booz Allen Hamilton. Prior to Deutsch, Connors was the business development lead at JWT NY and also held senior growth roles at Arnold in Boston and NY.

Maggie O. Connors was named global chief growth officer at MRM.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Maggie, who possesses both a proven new business track record and deep appreciation for how creativity can influence and drive meaningful growth. Maggie has positively impacted how agencies pursue their marketing, offerings, pitching and growth and we are thrilled to see her at the helm within MRM,” Kate MacNevin, global chairwoman and CEO at MRM, said in a statement.

Added Connors in a statement: “Growth for MRM is about continuing to help businesses grow meaningful relationships through new, innovative solutions. We are at an inflection point in terms of integrating all of these capabilities on behalf of our clients. Our belief is that today’s solutions should be fully horizontal, helping clients achieve success and transformation across their entire business—sales, marketing, supply chain, product and service.”

“Maggie is great at connecting with prospective clients and understanding their business needs, she is a force of positive energy that has helped Deutsch NY land some amazing new business wins. We wish her every success and will be cheering for her in her new role at our sister agency,” Val DiFebo, CEO, Deutsch NY, told Adweek.

MRM won the campaign of the year, agency and direct mail, in Adweek’s Performance Marketing Awards earlier this year for its work with USPS.
