McCann Nabs Weight Watchers Social Media Biz

McCann NY has added more Weight Watchers business to its portfolio as the agency’s now been named social media AOR for the weight loss company. McCann beat out eight “digital and specialist social media agencies” for the business. Weight Watchers’ director of online marketing Lee Hurley says in a statement that McCann “…demonstrated advanced understanding of how social media can help further build consumer engagement with our brand and our PointsPlus program.”

Poaching concerns in2010 aside, McCann has enjoyed a four-year relationship as creative agency for Weight Watchers and most recently rolled out the Jennifer Hudson-starring “It’s a New Day” campaign. Spending wasn’t disclosed and Razorfish will continue handling social media analytics. This latest business win for McCann’s NY office comes just weeks after the agency retained the U.S. Army account for at least another year.
