McCann Milan’s Poignant Message=Plagiarism?

Adfreak wrote last week about McCann Milan’s new PSA effort for sexual child abuse awareness and the Casa do Menor in Italy. While the debate can go on and on about how thought-provoking or tasteless it is, a tipster tells us that this controversial concept is nothing new.

The first image below is from the McCann PSA and the one below that comes courtesy of photog/sculptor Philip Toledano, who offers variations on this theme in his portfolio. Our spy tells us that this is another example of “how hacks routinely just rip off artists’ concepts.” The similarities are apparent (the child obviously being the big distinguishing factor) but what do you think?
