Remember business cards? Those rectangular pieces of card stock tell the world that you’re in the game, and they still carry some weight. Speaking of which, printing a design masterpiece on the right paper can take you from “blah” to, well … an impromptu dance party.
Such is the vibe in a new U.S. ad for MOO by London indie Mr. President.
A man (who looks a bit like U.K. creative maven Dave Birss) finishes his card design, and then clicks print on MOO’s website. From there, a blast of confetti and glitter gets the party started. There’s disco! There’s dancing! There’s a quote from the agency!
“We wanted to capture the pure joy that people feel when they see their work come to life perfectly with the quality that MOO brings. As they’re such a playful brand, we were keen to tell this story in that way too,” said Laura Jordan Bambach, CCO and partner at Mr. President.
And a quote from the brand!
“This campaign perfectly captures that ‘pinch me’ moment that many of our customers feel when receiving their MOO packages—realizing that their business dreams have become a reality,” said Stephanie Shore, CMO of MOO.
All kidding aside, the ad is 30-seconds of eye and ear candy and fits the brand’s personality well. (Disclosure: I’ve used MOO before and enjoyed the hell out of it. Who knew that printing can be a joy?)
And let’s face it, sometimes we need a good, old-fashioned, peppy, energetic piece of communication to remind us that it isn’t all that bad out there in the seemingly dour, overly serious and self-indulgent advertising world. Of course, a brand willing to have some fun never hurts either.
