Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Kumail Nanjiani Rob Snoop Dogg in Chandelier Creative’s Latest for Old Navy

By Erik Oster

Back in September Julia Louis-Dreyfus played a fashion designer in “Happy Pants” a spot promoting Old Navy’s 50% off jeans sale which failed to live up to Chandelier’s back-to-school effort the month before. For the latest effort in the campaign, Chandelier and Old Navy brought on actor/comedian Kumail Nanjiani of Silicon Valley and musician/cannabis entrepreneur Snoop Dogg

“Snoopin’ Around” is a definite step up from its predecessor, thanks in no small part to its guest stars, who provide most of the best lines while Dreyfus mostly plays its straight. The ad opens with Dreyfus blowing up a safe in search of Snoop Dogg’s cash, only to find a diary instead, which Snoop informs her is “for my feelings.” Nanjiani, who is supposed to be waiting in the car as her getaway driver arrives to munch on Snoop’s homemade snacks and really steals the show. The spot promotes Old Navy’s Overnight Millionaire sweepstakes, which provides the first 50 customers in line at each Old Navy location on Thanksgiving the chance to win a cool million. A 30-second broadcast version of the spot, unfortunately missing some of its better moments, made its debut Sunday. There’s also a brief outtake from the shoot, entitled “Million-Dollar Mic Drops,” which we’ve included below. Supporting the ad are long and short-form digital content, a radio spot featuring Snoop Dogg and a social element, with each component supporting the Overnight Millionaire promotion.
