Jamie Gallo Named President TBWA\Chiat\Day New York, “Lukewarm Response” From Staff

By Matt Van Hoven

TBWA\Chiat\Day New York announced today the appointment of Jamie Gallo to the position of president of the agency. AgencySpy reported the news of the appointment last Friday, but did not receive a response from an agency representative at that time.

Gallo moves up from a managing director position to replace 11-year president Robert LePlea who departed somewhat unexpectedly in late January of this year.

One of the sources who contacted AgencySpy after Gallo’s promotion was announced to staff noted that the news was received “with a lukewarm response. “He’s not well liked,” the source went on.

A reader e-mailed us to say, “Jamie is a great guy and a hard ass worker. He expects the same from his staff that he puts into building a shop for his staff…”

As with any leader, Gallo has his share of supporters and dissenters to manage.

Within TBWA, Gallo is known for his retail and brand consultancy experience &#151 specifically on the Nextel and ABSOLUT accounts. As a managing director he was responsible for day-to-day client oversight and new business, skills that will help in this leadership role.
