If I Don’t Know Diddley, I Know You’ll Be Missed

Sadly, Bo Diddley, a founding father of rock ‘n’ roll, died Monday after months of ill health. Diddley was 79. He died of heart failure at his home in Archer, Fla. three months after suffering a stroke while touring in Iowa. The stroke apparently affected his ability to speak, and he was back in Florida to continue rehabilitation.

Upon hearing of Bo Diddley’s death I starting searching my mental rolodex to recall one of his songs and the first thing I remembered was the Nike ad from the early ’90’s. What a simple way to make us remember a product and a great way to help us remember an artist. So two birds with one stone. The ad was really brilliant in it’s simplicity. Here I am able to recall it perfectly nearly 20 years later.

Bo Diddley was a great musician, a colorful personality and I’m sure he will be missed by many.
