iCrossing Fined for Illegally Dumping Trash

By Matt Van Hoven

There’s mischief afoot in Brighton, a southern city in the UK. Agency iCrossing’s Brighton-based shop was fined ~$3,000 by a local magistrate, when eight large garbage bags were found dumped in Palace Place.

According to a story published in The Argus on the issue, officers found the bags piled up against the wall. One of them was apparently ripped open and its contents were strewn around the street. The garbage included private client data, including costs and profits from TUI, Web mock-ups for EA Games and more. Update: iCrossing has refuted this statement, here.

Officers were able to determine that the refuse came from iCrossing based on documents they found among the trash. More after the jump.

Our spy’s thought: “What would Agency.com think?” Ha!

“In England iCrossing position themselves as social media experts,” said an Agency Spy.

“We carbon offset all of our travel, encourage staff to cycle to work by promoting government tax breaks, and partipate in local community events. We are a very community conscious company and are genuinely appalled that the council took it upon themselves to use draconian legislation that effectively criminalises companies for problems caused by a difficult to manage landlord. Flytipping is offensive and unacceptable. Responsible local businesses being made into examples of does little to encourage community co-operation. Perhaps we should give up our two year fight to get secure cycle parking near our office, or complain about the 18 months of noise, dust and disruption that the north street road works have caused? Brighton is a great city despite its administrators. Arjo Ghosh, Chief Executive, iCrossing UK.

Apparently, “The Argus” commonly reports on “<a (Wikipedia: Fly-tipping or dumping is a British term for illegally dumping waste somewhere other than an authorized landfill. It is the illegal deposit of any waste onto land, i.e., waste dumped or tipped on a site with no license to accept waste.).
