Icaro Doria Heads to Boston as Arnold’s New Chief Creative Officer

By Patrick Coffee

In case you missed it (you didn’t), Arnold remedied a four-month absence of creative leadership atop its organization by hiring Icaro Doria as U.S. CCO.

The former DDB New York chief creative replaces Jim Elliot, who left in March amid a big restructuring across the Havas global network. He has yet to pop up in a new job, and it does not appear that his global CCO role will be filled. We did hear at the time of his departure that he wasn’t fired but left because of the new Havas hierarchy, with Arnold creatives reporting to Jason Peterson at Havas Chicago.

Here are your statements from Arnold global CEO Pam Hamlin:

“With outstanding creative credentials and a unique ability to inspire those around him, Icaro is a critical addition to the Arnold Worldwide leadership team. With a proven track record of delivering impactful campaigns, reinvigorating company culture and managing and growing international agencies, he is a true creator and will be an immediate asset to Arnold and our clients.”

From Ari Weiss at DDB:

“Icaro is a tremendous creative talent and I wish him the best. We have big plans in store for DDB N.Y. and look forward to telling the next chapter of our resurgence story in the weeks to come.”

And from Doria himself:

“Arnold’s commitment to its clients, culture and creativity immediately drew me in. Arnold has created some of the world’s most iconic brands, so I’m excited to see how we can now build on this legacy with this new chapter. I am proud to join an agency that thinks differently and maintains a constant desire to learn and innovate.”

He’s got a bit of work to do as Arnold has been very quiet lately, especially regarding new business and executive hires.
