GS&P Deals with a ‘Snake Bite’ in New Spot for Adobe

By Erik Oster

Goodby Silverstein & Partners launched a new 60-second spot for Adobe entitled “Snake Bite,” the latest in its ongoing “Do you know what your marketing is doing?” campaign for the brand.

The spot opens on two men hiking in the mountains when one of them is bitten by a snake. It only gets worse from there.

His friend assures him it will be okay, since he knows a medical website. But when he tries to access that site he encounters a series of problems, beginning with a pop-up ad that won’t disappear from the page, followed by a page asking him to download an app and a customer survey, while the friend’s condition gets progressively worse. Finally, he just has to wait 15 seconds for one final ad to access the page as his friend grows completely delirious.

The spot then fades out with the line, “How’s your customer experience? We can help,” followed by the Adobe Marketing Cloud logo.

Like its predecessors, the ad uses satire to highlight some of the more ridiculous aspects of modern marketing. While not without its charm, “Snake Bite” isn’t quite as strong as some previous entries in this campaign. It does still work to underscore the importance of customer service, even if it could just as easily be selling ad-blocking software.
